Compare / Head to head
Odoo vs Zoho One
Two very different answers to "one vendor for everything": a modular suite built on one data model, and a bundle of dozens of applications at one price per employee.
Checked 1 September 2026
We are not a neutral party, and you should read this knowing that. Rutba makes software that competes with both products on this page, and there is a section about us at the bottom. Everything above it is written from what each vendor publishes about their own product, dated, with no prices reproduced and nothing said about anyone’s roadmap, finances or customers. If we have described either product incorrectly, tell us and we will correct it and say that we did.
The actual decision
What you are really choosing between.
Whether you would rather have fewer applications that share a database, or more applications that share a bill. Almost everything else about this decision follows from that one.
Odoo
Odoo S.A.
A modular business suite with an open-source community edition and a paid enterprise edition, covering CRM, sales, inventory, manufacturing, accounting and much else, with a large third-party app ecosystem.
Zoho One
Zoho Corporation
A bundle of several dozen Zoho applications — CRM, books, inventory, mail, projects, desk and many more — licensed at a single price per employee, with the requirement that every employee is licensed.
Head to head
Where they actually differ.
Only the rows that differ. A comparison table padded with things both products do equally well is a table designed to be long rather than useful.
| Odoo | Zoho One | |
|---|---|---|
| What "integrated" means | Modules of one application over one data model. A sales order and a stock move are the same system. | Separately built products with connectors between them. The integration is real and it is still an integration. |
| How it is priced | Per user, plus the applications you switch on — so the total is a calculation you redo when you add something. | One price per employee, and the licence model expects every employee to be covered. |
| Breadth | Wide across running a business, plus a very large third-party module ecosystem. | Wider still by application count, including categories Odoo does not cover at all. |
| Workspace — mail, files, documents | Not included; the expectation is Google or Microsoft alongside. | Included in the bundle, which is a genuine part of its value. |
| Self-hosting | A real community edition you can run yourself. | Cloud only. |
| Where the effort goes | Configuration, and often a partner. Deep once configured. | Joining the applications up, and deciding which of the forty you will actually adopt. |
Which to pick
Real reasons on both sides.
A matchup where one option never wins is not a comparison, and every reader can tell.
Choose Odoo if…
- Your operation is the point — stock, manufacturing, or anything where the order and the inventory must be one record
- You want an open-source core you could in principle run yourself
- You have, or will hire, a partner to configure it
- Your requirement is unusual enough that the module ecosystem is the deciding factor
Choose Zoho One if…
- You want breadth immediately and will accept configuring the joins
- Different departments already use different Zoho products
- One price per employee is easier to budget than per-application arithmetic
- You need a specific application in its range that Odoo does not have
And now the part where we talk about ourselves
Where Rutba fits, on the same axes.
Constrained to what the comparison above actually examined. If neither product was measured on something, we do not get to win it here.
We took Odoo’s data model and Zoho’s inclusiveness
One set of records rather than applications with connectors — and the workspace in the box rather than assumed. That is deliberately the intersection of what each of these does well, and it is the whole product thesis rather than a feature list.
Priced per product, not per application or per head
You are not doing per-app arithmetic every time you add something, and you are not licensing the half of your headcount that touches one screen.
Where we are behind both of them
Ecosystem and maturity. Odoo has thousands of third-party modules and Zoho has more applications than we have products. If your requirement is niche enough that somebody has already built it for one of them, that settles it and we would say so.

The pillar
Rutba vs Odoo
The closest competitor by shape — modular, open core, and covering most of a business. The differences are the workspace, and how the modules are priced.
The pillar
Rutba vs Zoho One
The closest competitor by bundle economics — a very large number of applications for one per-employee price. The difference is what "one suite" means underneath.
