An order is treated as a parcel
Two boxes to one address, one order split across two days, three orders on one van — none of it fits a system where the order IS the delivery. So the real plan lives in a WhatsApp group and a printed sheet.
The van is assigned by who is nearest, not by what the load needs
Refrigeration, a tail-lift, a two-person crew, an ADR licence, a size limit. Dispatchers hold this in their heads, which works until the person holding it is on leave.
Compliance is a folder, and the folder is behind
Walkaround checks on paper, driver hours in a spreadsheet, a licence check somebody meant to do in March. The first time anybody looks properly is after an incident.
Nobody can answer "where is it"
The recipient phones the office, the office phones the driver, the driver is driving. Every one of those calls is a cost, and the answer is a guess.
The delivery does not move the stock or the money
Goods leave the building and the system finds out at the end of the week. Cash the driver collected is reconciled by counting it.

The consignment comes out of the order
A shipment is its own record with its own legs, so two boxes, a split delivery and a shared van are all things the system can say — rather than shapes the order document has to be bent into.
Assignment reads what the load needs
A consignment carries its requirements and the assigner places it on a vehicle and a driver that meet them. What was in the dispatcher's head is on the record, which is also what makes it reviewable afterwards.
The vehicle is an asset and the driver is an employee
Service schedules, walkaround checks, defects and duty hours sit on the same records the accountant depreciates from and the rota is built on. A failed check raises a maintenance job against the same asset, consuming parts from the same stock.
The recipient is told, on your page
A tracking page on your own domain, reading your own consignment, and a link sent when the run is planned. It shows progress rather than a live dot — that decision is not taken, and the page says so instead of implying otherwise.
Delivered means delivered everywhere at once
The stock walks out of the branch, the cash the driver collected posts to the ledger, and the courier's pay reaches payroll or becomes a supplier bill. One event, not four exports.
The chain, end to end
Each step writes to the same records the next step reads. There is no export between them, which is why there is nothing to reconcile afterwards.
