Bookkeeping is mostly re-typing things the business already knows. Rutba Books is the hub every other product posts into: a sale at the till, a payroll run, a stock revaluation — each writes its own journal entry as it happens. What that leaves is the work worth doing: matching the bank, chasing what is late, and closing a period that already adds up.
Worth knowing: One purchase, two apps. Books and Accounts are lit by the same pair of module keys because they are two views of one ledger - the operator working today’s invoices and the accountant working the period - and splitting the licence would mean buying your own books twice. Bank connections are honest about what they are: statement files and SFTP work today; one live bank-feed adapter is built and pulls on request once you supply your own aggregator credentials, with no consent screen or scheduled pull yet; and the other aggregators refuse clearly rather than pretending until they are built.

- Payment runs exported as ISO 20022, ACH or CSV under a build, approve, export, settle discipline
- Recurring invoices, a collections ladder, and a credit gate the till checks before a pay-later sale
- Fixed assets with depreciation, budgets and variance, cost centres and projects, and foreign-currency revaluation
- Journal entries posted automatically by the till, payroll, orders and stock - so month end is a review rather than a reconstruction
- Invoices, statements, quotes and dunning notices delivered from your own mailbox
- A pay link on each invoice, so a customer can pay without an account through your own payment provider
- Bill approvals, recurring bills and supplier statement checks
- Structured e-invoices in Peppol BIS 3.0; sending them over the network is not switched on yet
- Tax returns prepared from the ledger and frozen once prepared, and a year-end close; electronic filing is not built
- A setup wizard and opening balances for moving from another system, with any difference held in a named suspense account
