Rutba vs MRPeasy
A pragmatic, mid-priced MRP that has been doing the same job for a decade - the value option in this group and the one most price-sensitive shortlists reach.
Checked 3 September 2026MRPeasy - pricing and product ↗
What MRPeasy is
Cloud MRP for small manufacturers: bills of materials, routings with work centres, MRP runs, purchase orders, work orders and stock control. Sold per user in tiered plans, with QuickBooks and Xero connectors and a public API. A single product rather than a platform.
Who it genuinely suits
- Small manufacturers whose requirement is signed off and stable
- Shops that want MRP without a suite and without the leading vendor's price
- Teams comfortable running a couple of integrations rather than paying for a wider platform
Where they win
What MRPeasy does better than us.
Every comparison page on this site has this section and none of them is empty. If it were, you would be right to discount the rest of the page.
Price, at the level of small teams
Cheaper than Katana at comparable scale and materially cheaper than the platform vendors. If the shortlist decision is "the cheapest MRP that has what we need", they win it often, and honestly.
A decade of iteration on the same product
The corner cases in small-manufacturer MRP - subcontracting, phantom bills, byproducts, alternate BOMs - are worn smooth in a way a newer product does not match yet.
Simplicity, deliberately
It does one thing. No CRM to configure, no workspace to learn, no billing engine. A team that wants exactly MRP finds exactly MRP.
Where we win
What Rutba does that this does not.
Argued from how the products are built rather than from a feature list, because feature lists are the part of a comparison that goes stale first.
The ledger and the labour are ours, not connectors
A work-order roll-up posted to Rutba Books does not depend on a QuickBooks sync succeeding. A piece rate paid through Rutba People does not depend on a payroll export.
A first-class shop-floor terminal
Their operator surface is a browser screen. Ours is a paired tablet with an offline queue that survives the network dropping, which is the failure mode a floor cares about most.
Records the whole business shares
A customer in the CRM is the customer on the sale order that drove the MRP run that made the work order. In MRPeasy, they are separate records in separate systems, joined by an email address.
And the one that is not a feature
MRPeasy Ltd will not build what you ask for. We will.
That is not a criticism of them — a vendor at their scale has to weigh your request against every other customer it touches, and schedule it behind a roadmap set a year out. Your request is a rounding error in their planning, honestly so. We are small, and the people building the product are the people you talk to: what helps everyone goes into the product at no extra charge, what is specific to you is quoted as the work it is, and when the answer is no you get the reason.
Side by side
The same six questions the hub asks of everyone.
| Question | Rutba | MRPeasy |
|---|---|---|
| Runs the businessCRM, stock, orders, production and the ledger, from one vendor | Included | Partly |
| Runs the dayMail, files, documents, chat and meetings, included rather than licensed separately | Included | Not covered |
| One set of recordsDo the modules share the records, or integrate copies of them | Included | Not covered |
| Buy it yourselfCan you subscribe and start without a partner or a sales cycle | Included | Included |
| Parts sold separatelyCan you take one piece without committing to the platform | Included | Included |
| Run it yourselfIs there a path to your own hardware | Partly | Not covered |
On price: We do not reproduce MRPeasy Ltd’s prices here. A list price is published and fair to quote, and it is stale within a quarter — which would make this page quietly wrong in a way you could not see. Read today’s number from them, and ours is on our pricing page in full, tier by tier.
Moving
What leaving MRPeasy actually involves.
The question that decides this is not whether you should move but whether you can. This is the honest version, including the parts that do not come across.
- 1
Bills, items, work centres and stock levels import cleanly via CSV.
- 2
Open work orders should be closed in MRPeasy rather than migrated - WIP transfer is where imports go wrong.
- 3
Integrations you were paying for stop being paid for, because the things they connected to are now inside the same system.
No customer has done this yet. The steps above describe the mechanism — what exports, what imports, what has to be rebuilt — rather than a migration we have run. When one has been run, this section will say whose it was.
Our actual recommendation
For a small manufacturer whose requirement is MRP and whose other systems are settled, MRPeasy is a rational and defensible choice, and this section is not going to argue with the price. Consider us when the labour cost needs to reach a wage and the finished cost needs to reach the ledger without an export, or when the shop floor is a tablet on a bench rather than a person at a desk.
