Rutba vs SignNow

The value option, and a serious one. It exists to answer "why am I paying so much for signatures", which is a question we also think is a good one.

What SignNow is

Electronic signature sold per user at the low end of the category, with templates, bulk invitations and an API, sitting inside airSlate's wider document-workflow suite. Self-serve throughout.

Who it genuinely suits

  • Teams whose requirement is signing, at volume, for the least money
  • Anyone who found the leaders' per-seat pricing out of proportion to the job
  • Businesses already using airSlate's workflow automation
  • High-volume senders of routine documents — consent forms, onboarding packs

Where they win

What SignNow does better than us.

Every comparison page on this site has this section and none of them is empty. If it were, you would be right to discount the rest of the page.

Price, which is the whole point of it

It is materially cheaper than the leaders and does not pretend to be anything else. We are also cheaper than the leaders for occasional senders, and we are not making a claim to be the cheapest option in this category for everyone.

Bulk send and routine volume

Sending the same document to many recipients is a first-class feature and a mature one. Ours exists in the subscription tier and is younger.

A workflow suite around it

airSlate adds document generation, robotic process automation and workflow beyond signing. Our equivalent breadth is the business suite, which is a much larger commitment to take on for a signature.

Anyone can buy it now

No licence prerequisite, no waiting on card capture.

Where we win

What Rutba does that this does not.

Argued from how the products are built rather than from a feature list, because feature lists are the part of a comparison that goes stale first.

Cheap and provable are different axes

The saving here comes from being a lean signature product. Ours comes from not charging per seat, and it is paid for by the evidence being the product rather than a feature — a sealed, hash-chained record with an independent timestamp, verifiable by anyone, permanently. Compare on what the record proves, not only on the rate.

Verification that outlives the subscription

Free, public, no account, and it keeps working after you leave. A cheap subscription you cannot safely cancel because your executed agreements live in it is not as cheap as it looks.

Honest certificates

The certificate of completion states the identity rung each signer actually cleared and never more. A stronger-sounding certificate that overstates what was checked is worth less in a dispute, not more.

Signing attached to real records

For Rutba customers the document comes from the system that produced it and goes back to it. A standalone tool at any price cannot do that.

And the one that is not a feature

airSlate, Inc. will not build what you ask for. We will.

That is not a criticism of them — a vendor at their scale has to weigh your request against every other customer it touches, and schedule it behind a roadmap set a year out. Your request is a rounding error in their planning, honestly so. We are small, and the people building the product are the people you talk to: what helps everyone goes into the product at no extra charge, what is specific to you is quoted as the work it is, and when the answer is no you get the reason.

On price: We do not reproduce airSlate, Inc.’s prices here. A list price is published and fair to quote, and it is stale within a quarter — which would make this page quietly wrong in a way you could not see. Read today’s number from them, and ours is on our pricing page in full, tier by tier.

Moving

What leaving SignNow actually involves.

The question that decides this is not whether you should move but whether you can. This is the honest version, including the parts that do not come across.

  1. 1

Straightforward on paper, and the caveats are ours: no standalone purchase yet, and no visible marks on the original pages.

  2. 2

Bulk-send workflows should be tested before switching — that is where our product is youngest.

  3. 3

Executed documents stay verifiable with SignNow and should stay there.

No customer has done this yet. The steps above describe the mechanism — what exports, what imports, what has to be rebuilt — rather than a migration we have run. When one has been run, this section will say whose it was.

Our actual recommendation

If the requirement is high-volume routine signing at the lowest price and the evidence question never comes up, SignNow is a rational purchase and we would not argue with it. Look at us when a document is going to be argued about, or when the sender is a Rutba organization and the signature belongs on a record you already hold.
