Rutba vs Rippling
The one competitor pursuing the same thesis we are — one employee record driving everything — from the opposite end. They started at the employee; we started at the business.

What Rippling is
A platform that unifies HR, IT and finance around a single employee record: payroll and benefits, device management and app provisioning, and spend management, with a large and growing product surface.
Who it genuinely suits
- Companies whose central pain is onboarding and offboarding people across many SaaS tools and devices
- US-headquartered businesses wanting payroll, benefits and IT from one vendor
- Fast-growing teams where headcount changes weekly
Where they win
What Rippling does better than us.
Every comparison page on this site has this section and none of them is empty. If it were, you would be right to discount the rest of the page.
Device and app provisioning, which we do not do at all
Shipping a laptop, enrolling it, granting the new starter accounts in a dozen third-party SaaS tools and reclaiming all of it on their last day. That is a real, expensive problem and Rippling solves it. We do not attempt it.
They are years ahead on execution
Mature payroll, benefits, a large app ecosystem and a big customer base. Two of our seven People apps are scaffolds. On the ground they can do a great deal more than we can today.
The employee-graph idea is genuinely good
Driving policy from one record rather than from a dozen admin consoles is the right architecture for the problem they chose, and we would make the same argument in their position.
Where we win
What Rutba does that this does not.
Argued from how the products are built rather than from a feature list, because feature lists are the part of a comparison that goes stale first.
Their record stops at the employee. Ours does not stop.
Rippling unifies everything that touches a person. It does not hold your stock, your orders, your production or your ledger — so the moment a question crosses from "who works here" to "what did we make and what did it cost", you are back to two systems and an integration.
The payroll cost lands in your own accounts
Not as a journal export on a schedule — as the posting itself, split by cost centre, in the ledger your P&L is drawn from.
The workspace is included
Rippling provisions your Google or Microsoft accounts; it does not replace them. Mail, files, documents and chat are part of the Rutba family and log back to the business record they concern.
Not a US-shaped product
Rippling is strongest where US payroll, benefits and compliance are the requirement. Rutba is built for the business, not the jurisdiction, and can run on your own infrastructure where a product supports it.
And the one that is not a feature
Rippling People Center Inc. will not build what you ask for. We will.
That is not a criticism of them — a vendor at their scale has to weigh your request against every other customer it touches, and schedule it behind a roadmap set a year out. Your request is a rounding error in their planning, honestly so. We are small, and the people building the product are the people you talk to: what helps everyone goes into the product at no extra charge, what is specific to you is quoted as the work it is, and when the answer is no you get the reason.
Side by side
The same six questions the hub asks of everyone.
| Question | Rutba | Rippling |
|---|---|---|
| Runs the businessCRM, stock, orders, production and the ledger, from one vendor | Included | Partly |
| Runs the dayMail, files, documents, chat and meetings, included rather than licensed separately | Included | Extra vendor or licence |
| One set of recordsDo the modules share the records, or integrate copies of them | Included | Partly |
| Buy it yourselfCan you subscribe and start without a partner or a sales cycle | Included | Included |
| Parts sold separatelyCan you take one piece without committing to the platform | Included | Partly |
| Run it yourselfIs there a path to your own hardware | Partly | Not covered |
On price: We do not reproduce Rippling People Center Inc.’s prices here. A list price is published and fair to quote, and it is stale within a quarter — which would make this page quietly wrong in a way you could not see. Read today’s number from them, and ours is on our pricing page in full, tier by tier.
Moving
What leaving Rippling actually involves.
The question that decides this is not whether you should move but whether you can. This is the honest version, including the parts that do not come across.
- 1
Employee records, compensation and time-off balances export and import cleanly.
- 2
Device management and app provisioning have no equivalent here. If those are why you bought Rippling, this comparison is not a real one and we would rather say that.
- 3
Workflows built in their automation layer are re-specified rather than migrated.
- 4
Move on a pay period boundary, parallel-run one cycle, and keep historic payslips where they were filed.
No customer has done this yet. The steps above describe the mechanism — what exports, what imports, what has to be rebuilt — rather than a migration we have run. When one has been run, this section will say whose it was.
Our actual recommendation
If your problem is onboarding people onto devices and SaaS tools, stay — we do not compete for that and are not going to pretend to. The comparison is for businesses whose second system is not a laptop fleet but a warehouse, a production floor or a ledger.
If you did move
The products this comparison is about.
With their real availability labels, which apply inside a comparison exactly as they do everywhere else on this site.
Note before you compare: Rutba Mail is not generally available yet. Any row above that we win on it is a claim about what ships, not about what you can buy today.

Head to head
Rippling against the others.
You are comparing Rippling to something, and it may well not be us. These are written to the same standard as this page — sourced, dated, and naming where each product wins.
Rippling vs Gusto
Gusto vs Rippling
One is payroll done beautifully. The other is payroll as one surface of a platform that also runs your laptops and your app accounts. The choice is about scope, not about payroll.
Rippling vs Deel
Rippling vs Deel
Both will tell you they do global HR. One is a platform that reaches outward from your own entity; the other is an entity you borrow. That distinction decides most of these evaluations.
