Rutba vs Aircall

The phone system built to sit on top of a CRM. The closest competitor by intent — and the difference is whether the CRM is a separate product.

What Aircall is

A cloud call centre and business phone system designed around integrations: calls placed and received inside a CRM or helpdesk, with the call, recording and disposition pushed back into that system through a connector.

Who it genuinely suits

  • Sales and support teams whose CRM is settled and whose phone is not
  • Businesses wanting calling inside Salesforce, HubSpot or Zendesk quickly
  • Teams who need it working this month

Where they win

What Aircall does better than us.

Every comparison page on this site has this section and none of them is empty. If it were, you would be right to discount the rest of the page.

It ships, and ours does not

Same first answer as the rest of this group and it deserves stating plainly rather than once at the bottom. Our telephony is not released.

A large, maintained integration library

Dozens of connectors kept working against other vendors’ APIs. That is ongoing engineering and they do it well.

Contact-centre features we have not built

Queues, live coaching, call whispering and the supervisor surface.

Where we win

What Rutba does that this does not.

Argued from how the products are built rather than from a feature list, because feature lists are the part of a comparison that goes stale first.

There is no connector, because there is nothing to connect

Aircall’s value is a good bridge between two systems. Ours is that the customer record, the ticket, the order and the call ledger are the same database. A bridge is a thing that can be out of date; a join is not.

The disposition writes to the record it concerns

Not to a mirrored copy of the contact in a calling tool that syncs back on a schedule.

One vendor across the whole workspace

Aircall is calling. The mail, the files, the documents and the business software are still somebody else’s.

And the one that is not a feature

Aircall SAS will not build what you ask for. We will.

That is not a criticism of them — a vendor at their scale has to weigh your request against every other customer it touches, and schedule it behind a roadmap set a year out. Your request is a rounding error in their planning, honestly so. We are small, and the people building the product are the people you talk to: what helps everyone goes into the product at no extra charge, what is specific to you is quoted as the work it is, and when the answer is no you get the reason.

On price: We do not reproduce Aircall SAS’s prices here. A list price is published and fair to quote, and it is stale within a quarter — which would make this page quietly wrong in a way you could not see. Read today’s number from them, and ours is on our pricing page in full, tier by tier.

Moving

What leaving Aircall actually involves.

The question that decides this is not whether you should move but whether you can. This is the honest version, including the parts that do not come across.

  1. 1

Not yet. Our telephony is unreleased and a working calling stack should not be replaced by one that is not.

  2. 2

The honest interim: run Aircall, and let Rutba hold the customer record it dials against.

  3. 3

When ours is released, moving is a number port and a re-training, and the call history stays where it was logged.

  4. 4

Ask us for the telephony programme plan if the timing matters to your decision — we will send it rather than describe it.

No customer has done this yet. The steps above describe the mechanism — what exports, what imports, what has to be rebuilt — rather than a migration we have run. When one has been run, this section will say whose it was.

Our actual recommendation

If you need CRM-connected calling now, Aircall does it and we do not. The argument for waiting is only strong if you are also replacing the CRM, in which case the connector you are buying stops being necessary.

Head to head

Aircall against the others.

You are comparing Aircall to something, and it may well not be us. These are written to the same standard as this page — sourced, dated, and naming where each product wins.
